Charmaine is in a better place now. She is that happy, cheerful and feisty girl who loved her Mother and brother so fearlessly. Over there, she running around, she is laughing at the wonder sights and she is smiling as she thinks of all the wonderful memories you as her mother has given her. She has fought the great fight, walked through the fires of pain and suffering and now it is her time to rest... not in defeat but triumph and victory... We learnt always now always hug our children tighter and kiss them more often whenever we have the chance as we must NEVER take our time with our children for granted… We learnt of the amazing courage of a mother who could have given up to utter despair so many time so much earlier… when you discovered how much the treatment cost… when the naysayer kept attacking you… when the treatment was failing… but in the end still put up the bravest face and took the biggest steps in her life for the love of her child… and still kept up with a blog that must have been so painful to maintain… We learnt of a wonderful child who kept such a happy and wonderful attitude throughout her sickness and ordeal even though it must have been so difficult to do so… we will tell our children her story so whenever they face a terrible ordeal so that they know and learn what true courage and strength is. Charmaine and your story will live forever within us and many of the parents who have learnt of this story. It was not cowardly for you to “give up” and say “I lost” today…. it was simply the right time to let her go, to say good bye so she can start her new journey in the afterlife with the blessing of her mother… Everyone lives but not everyone truly lived. Charmaine’s courageous life while short was well lived. Take care and now please have the courage to go on with life standing taller, prouder at all you have achieved and become. Live a life that is worthy of Charmaine so when you finally meet her when it’s your time… you too have a life that is well lived and well-loved.
